American Pool Service will be managing the Corvias Military Living community pools again this season. The pools will be open from May 24 through September 2. Pools are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. American Pool Service reserves the right to close the pool for inclement weather or pool maintenance.
Residents will need to show their pool pass and military I.D. before entering the pool area. Families who do not have a pool pass are encouraged to visit your Community Office. A pool use addendum will need to be signed to receive your pool pass. Community pools are for Corvias resident use only and one pass is issued per family.
To make a day at the pool enjoyable for all, here are some rules we ask residents to follow:
· No glass or pottery-type containers allowed in the pool area.
- All patrons must wear swimsuits that are appropriate for public appearance.
- Inflatable rafts, water wings/floaties and toys are not permitted in the pool (Guidance from CDC).
- Young children may wear Coast Guard approved life vests in the pool.
· Children who are not potty-trained must wear swim diapers while in the pool.
- All children under the age of 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years of age.
- No pets are allowed in the pool area.
- Wet bathing suits are not allowed in the Community Center.
A complete list of rules is available online at riley.corviasmilitaryliving.com and posted at each facility.
Thirty years ago, President Ronald Reagan recognized the importance of military spouse contributions to the morale and readiness of our nation’s service members. In 1999, Congress designated the first Friday before Mother’s Day as National Military Spouse Appreciation Day. This year on May 9, we continue to recognize and show appreciation to the silent force, behind the force, for their steadfast support and sacrifice.
As a nation, we salute spouses for their commitment, dedication and patriotism. Military spouses wear many hats while juggling family separations, employment uncertainties and frequent relocations. Yet, they still find time and strength to volunteer in our communities and manage the home front.
Corvias Military Living salutes our military spouses for your service and commitment! Thank you for the many selfless contributions and sacrifices in supporting our service members. Information on Military Spouse Appreciation events at Fort Riley is available on the MWR website.
Splashing around in a pool on a hot summer day is great entertainment for small children. Please remember only small, well-maintained wading pools are approved. Wading pools should be 12 inches or less in height and no more than 10 feet wide and must be emptied and stored when not in use. The resident assumes all liability for the set-up and operation of the pool and an adult must supervise filled wading pools and activity at all times.
This policy is in place to ensure the safety of our residents and maintain the curb appeal of the Communities. If you have any questions, please call or stop by your Community Office.
We encourage residents to visit our website at riley.corviasmilitaryliving.com. Important and helpful information is on the site including several features residents can utilize. Two options include viewing community resources and submitting feedback.
Additionally, routine maintenance requests can be submitted here. Residents should fill out the form with as much detail as possible so your community team can identify and complete your request. If your work order is an emergency, please call your community office immediately instead of submitting the request electronically. The online form should not be used for any emergency situations, as they require a prompt response.
Flowers are lovely to look at, but they communicate more than beauty. Some have specific meanings behind them. Here’s what you can express to a friend or loved one by choosing just the right flower:
· Carnation: constancy, joy
· Chrysanthemum: optimism, hope, happiness
· Daisy: purity, loyalty, innocence
· Freesia: trust
· Gladiola: remembrance
· Iris: faith, wisdom, promise
· Larkspur: appreciation
· Lily: devotion
· Orchid: love, beauty
· Red rose: true love, desire
· White rose: true love, purity
· Yellow rose: friendship
· Pink rose: sweetness
· Tulip: love at first sight
· Snapdragon: virtue
Take advantage of spring weather! While the temperatures outside are comfortable, use a window or ceiling fan instead of the air conditioner. A fan only requires a tenth of the energy needed to run an air conditioner.
If you are the spouse of an active-duty service member with plans to go to college, Corvias Foundation may be able to help. Visit our website to learn more about available educational grants from Corvias Foundation and to apply online.
